John Brooks is a near-native of Colorado, having moved to Boulder in 1972 at the age of 7. John grew up in Boulder, being raised by a single mother who also ran his grandparent’s business in Agriculture Technology. John was very active in scouting, attaining the rank of Eagle at 13 years of age, and graduating from Fairview High School and the University of Colorado. John currently lives in the south Denver metro area and has been married to his wife (also a near-native) for over 28 years. They have two grown daughters and a son-in-law also all living in the Denver area.

John grew up in small business and in multiple industries. In his younger days he worked in the family business building and deploying computer systems for Dairy farms. In college and shortly after, he served in the US Air Force (under scholarship) and US Navy (as an Aviation Officer Candidate), eventually receiving an honorable discharge. During college and after his return from the military, John served as a volunteer fire lieutenant, and then as a full time Paramedic, logging over 10,000 911 responses before leaving the streets to become Director/Chief of two different agencies. During those years he gained valuable experience in the healthcare industry.

During the last 20+ years, John returned to a career in technology, focusing on Telecommunications. Early in that period he joined a small team of experienced entrepreneurs as the fourth senior member running operations. Starting from nothing but seed capital, this team built a company valued in the tens of millions in just a few short years, which was sold to multinational organizations and eventually employed 1,000 people around the world. In his various leadership roles John traveled to over 80 countries, has been published numerous times, and has formed strong relationships in almost every major geography.

In his spare time, John also bought or built three restaurants, engaged with partners in real estate renovations, and in the last ten years developed an increasing passion for public service. His blogs and platforms, until recently, lived only on social media until his close (bi-partisan) friends encouraged him to become more active and work to promote thoughts and ideas to a wider audience. He believes a balance in America could be, and should be, struck between fiscally conservative and socially responsible viewpoints, and ultimately common sense should win the day. His upbringing in Boulder cemented those values , as his upbringing provided for continual points of view and lively dinner conversations! Today John believes this diverse set of opinions, views, and perspectives are represented by those that live life in the middle, striving to move us all forward. This is what we refer to as the “Moderate Majority”.
